INTERNATIONAL IBCMT WORKSHOP FOR 2007

Dear Doctor and IBCMT member:

Our next IBCMT workshop needs to be planned, and we would appreciate your opinion.

Our past European workshops were held in Germany and The Netherlands. Accreditation points were received from the Accreditatie Bureau Sociale Geneeskunde, the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK, and the Landesärztekammer Hessen.

We like to continue on our path of academic approval, and are planning the meeting for 2007.

Important criteria for scheduling such IBCMT-approved workshops are:

  1. Approval of your countries academic medical facility

  2. Interest of your medical community to support IBCMT through increased member participation. Perhaps you know of interested doctors and can help us stimulate interest?

  3. Easy airport access

  4. Area attraction (would our workshop attendees like to stay on for a few holidays? What recreation is offered?)

  5. Hotel costs (can IBCMT members of lower economic status afford to visit?)

If you prefer having the IBCMT workshop outside your homeland, what would be your choice of country? The following are potential selections. Please tell us which country you prefer to visit this time:
  • France (south of)

  • Germany

  • Ireland

  • Portugal (though apparently, medical accreditation does not exist there)

  • Switzerland

  • Netherlands

December 4, 2006

Dear members:

Another year comes to its end and, as usual, it is time for reflection at what IBCMT has accomplished in 2006.

We conducted workshops in Taiwan and South Africa and not to be underestimated, several small workshops were held in Germany, prepared and conducted by Dr. Eleonore Bush, our ever active scientific advisor. These resulted in new C/CMTs and CMTs, from all over the world.

We introduced the new examining procedure of Basic CMT, Candidate CMT and fully qualified CMT. This was necessary because the study material became so extensive that 4-6 months are needed to master it. The Basic exam renders the possibility to come already on Board with B/CMT after taking a simplified exam. The details may be found on www.ibcmt.com

We are getting more and more articles from our membership to share, which is a splendid opportunity to stay informed about the fast developing Clinical Metal Toxicology. I want to wholeheartedly thank you for these contributions which are a token of involvement and willingness to further develop our unique specialty. At this time I am proud to say that we are already leading the way!

I am trying to keep up with all these developments by frequently updating our standard publication, The Textbook of Clinical Metal Toxicology. The input and help of enthusiastic contributors is heart-warming and invaluable. There is no other similar publication on the market.

All together, you may be proud that you have joined or will be joining the ranks of a unique specialty: Clinical Metal Toxicologist.

We need to dedicate all our efforts to get it recognized with the medial community, and I am convinced that we will succeed.

May next year bring you Peace and Happiness. Be good to your neighbor.

Yours,
Peter J. VanDerSchaar
President IBCMT

Dr's Hasnain and Altaf Patel very successfully conducted the first Indian workshop on Clinical Metal Toxicology. In Mumbai both doctors as well as Dr's. Kadu and VanDerSchaar actively participated in lecturing.

The meeting was well attended and the discussions were high-level. Several attendants took the written exam in order to eventually become a Clinical Metal Toxicologist.

At the conclusion of the meeting it was decided that an Indian Chapter would be formed with Dr Peter as Patron, Dr Altaf as president and Dr Hasnain as vice president. Dr Lenny DaCosta would be secretary.

The 2nd South African Workshop on Clinical Metal Toxicology, sponsored and organized by Medford, a South African company supporting chelation and Ampath laboratory, was held Oct 6-8, 2006 in the serene country setting of Irene, Pretoria. The Spring-like weather was appreciated by all.

Attended by beginning and advanced chelation therapists physicians from all over South Africa and other countries, the three days provided introductory material as a refresher and new research and protocols for the more experienced doctors.

In depth information was provided on the use of various chelating agents, particularly those available to the South African medical community. Discussion of the correct use of combination protocols provided wide interest.

Congratulations to Dr. Alby Ford and his staff.

3rd European Conference
Maastricht, Netherlands
July 2005

The 3rd European Conference on the Advancements in Clinical Metal Toxicology, an IBCMT accredited workshop was held July 1st-3rd, 2005 at the homeland of its founder and chairman, Dr. Peter VanderSchaar.

The workshop theme was Neurological and Immune Disorders-The role of metals and organic toxins, and continuing education approval was received from the Dutch, the German and the UK Medical Faculties. Over 50 physicians from around the globe attended.

All presentations were well received, leading to lively discussions. The workshop moderator Dr. Khesh Sidhu started the event with a thorough presentation on chelation history, and as always, he wittily and thoughtfully engaged speakers and audience in stimulating discussions. Professor Allen's lectures on chelation and biochemical involvements were an interesting, though not conflicting contrast with Dr. Cora Ibarra's experience and views on homotoxicology and homeopathy. Drs. vanderSchaar and Pahlplatz presented clinical data regarding the binding capacity of various chelating agents used at the Eindhoven clinic, and Prof. Patel once more alerted the audience to India's environmental problems. Dr. Steijskal of Sweden provided new clinical information and research data of metals used in dentistry and surgery. Her main focus concerned the implant metals titanium and zirconia. Well received was the demonstration of a combination chelation treatment, involving Ca-EDTA, DMPS and oral DMSA. Yvette Busch, the conference organizer served as patient of Dr. Raymond Pahlplatz.

Dr. VanderSchaar presented this year's Award of Excellence was given to E.Blaurock-Busch for her continuing dedication and commitment to developing Clinical Metal Toxicology.

The 4th European Conference on Metal Toxicology is now in planning. Its main focus is Dermatology.

Prof. Park MD, newly appointed president of the Korean chapter KBCMT and Dr. VanderSchaar, IBCMT President

For the first time, the Korean Integrative Medicine Institute organized an IBCMT Workshop in Clinical Metal Toxicology, and the organizing committee under Dr. Ilwang Kim MD provided outstanding hospitality to its foreign guests and all workshop attendees.

The event was scheduled on June 5-6th, 2005 at the beautiful Pederhaus Resort in Bundang, Korea where modern luxuries such as an Olympic-size in- and outdoor swimming pool, a large high-tech gym open and attended around the clock, a mini-golf and a golf-training center located on the rooftop overlooking the city to one side and dense woods on the other, are combined with traditional Asian culture and hospitality. All of which added pleasure to an intense workshop.

Bundang is a modern city just outside Seoul, settled near lush woods. People and children freely walk around the city, on sidewalks cleaner than in most European cities. People are genuinely courteous, even by Asian standards. Most strikingly, high school students behave properly as in a century past. (On my last day while visiting a folklore city, a 15-year old boy shyly approached me, bowed and then told me how beautiful I am. At my age? You got to love that!) Quite an astonishing people and country.

Lectures were presented by Prof. Byung Kwon Park MD, PhD, IBCMT Diplomate and Insung Lee MD, PhD, Clinical Professor Pochun-Jungmun University, Postgraduate Dept of Alternative Medicine.

Aside from the regular and mandatory IBCMT workshop lecture material, President Dr. Peter VanderSchaar MD PhD of the Netherlands and Eleonore Blaurock-Busch PhD of Germany presented updated protocols on the various chelating agents available at this time. The new information on the binding capacity of chelating agents such as EDTA, DMPS, ZnDTPA, DMSA and other agents attacted much attention. Nutritional and environmental issues were addressed. Most importantly, revised specimen collection protocols were part of the educational material and well received by the audience. (If you don’t have updated protocols, please contact us.)

After successful completion of this important Asian workshop, over 30 of the attending Korean physicians founded the Korean IBCMT Chapter and inaugurated Dr. Byung Kwon Park MD, PhD, Professor of Josun University College of Medicine, Dept of Rehabilitation Medicine, as the first president.

IBCMT welcomes this newly founded IBCMT Chapter and its Korean colleagues!

IBCMT Workshop - Cebu, Philippines
January 8-9, 2005

Top Of Page

The year 2005 started with another successful IBCMT Metal Toxicology Workshop.

The International Convention of Homeopathy and Homotoxicology was held Jan08 and 9, 2005 at the Waterfront Hotel at Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. Once again, the event was organized by the Philippine College of Integrative Medicine & Homotoxicology, in cooperation with the Ibarra Bio Medical International Trading Corporation.

The Philippine College of Integrative Medicine and Homotoxicology (PCIMH) is a group of medical doctors who combine EDTA chelation treatment with nutrition and homeopathic preparations, an approach that Dr. Cora Ibarra of Reno, Nevada, a Philippino native and licensed homeopathic physician extensively studied during her German medical training. In the years since, she introduced this approach to her fellow medical doctors in the Philippines, and consequently, this combination approach was the focus of this meeting.

About 60 medical doctors attended. Dr. VanderSchaar’s advanced lectures on EDTA chelation treatments were eagerly followed, and complimented by Dr. Ibarra’s introduction to Homeopathy and Homotoxicology. Dr.Klaus Küstermann MD of Germany provided information about combination detoxification programs that provided new insights into the homeopathic approach and metal toxicology. Dr. Marc Schauss MD of Reno, Nevada talked about the wide range of environmental toxins, including organic toxins such as the PCBs, how they affect patients and what treatment modalities are useful. Other related topics were presented by the Swiss-American doctors Anita and Sam Baxas, MD, and Eleonore Blaurock-Busch PhD.

Dr. Romy B. Paredes MD, and officer-in-charge of the event passed the oral examination with flying colors. Congratulations to an outstanding performance!

The organizing committee under Engineer Leonardo S. Ruiz, Jr. and the outgoing President Dr. Uldarico S. Uriarte did an outstanding job in making this event a success. A trip to the island Bohol, its famous beaches, mountains and undisturbed rivers, a visit with the world’s smallest monkeys and a ride along rice fields rounded a most memorable event.
